In this video Pyramid Lake Museum Director Billie Jean Guerrero and Tribal Chairwoman Janet Davis speak at the groundbreaking & installation of a new native plants Medicine Garden on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. With the help of local community members, the Ripple team and volunteers from the Native Solidarity Project, about 90 native trees, bushes and native herbs were planted immediately after they spoke. The goal of the project is to create a “living museum exhibit” to educate tribal members and the general public about the traditional uses of native plants from the Pyramid Lake area for medicine, pain relief, natural healing, smudging, clothing, food, shelter and building material. The purchase of plants and supplies/materials were made possible by a grant awarded to the Museum that was submitted by the Ripple Project. In addition, the Native Plant Farm in Washoe Valley generously donated many important native plant species.
